I love this place. Try the artichoke app. Delicious! Tea selection is incredible. Love exploring all the different options. Never been disappointed by a meal here. Just had brunch for the first time and that was no different! It is also just a beautiful, peaceful place to get away to. I always feel lighter when I leave.

Cool spot & a needed stop in that location. I had one of the wellness teas with ginger and it was a good smooth blend. My husband had the Santa Fe black tea and said it was good. We got the gingerbread with whipped cream and lemon curd - perfect flavorful treat (I was skeptical about the lemon, but it made it!) Looking forward to going back for lunch!

If you visit Santa Fe, plan on going to the Teahouse for one of your lunches/breakfasts. Located at the end of Canyon road, the Teahouse makes for the perfect stop either before or after you go gallery exploring (another must of Santa Fe). The tea/coffee selection is extensive. They have chai, matcha, lattes, anything you can name. I had the Seattle Fog, and it was delicious--rich in flavor with the right hint of vanilla and hazelnut. Their sandwiches are great also. I ordered the prosciutto Panini with arugula. Their ingredients were fresh and flavorful...truly a gourmet sandwich. The bread selection topped it off. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. They have a bricked patio that is sheltered from the street that makes for a perfect hangout while sipping your tea and discussing art. Unlike several of the other reviews, I did not have an issue with the service. Our waitress was kind and friendly and brought everything out in a reasonable amount of time.

I enjoyed a thursday afternoon here. The atmosphere was what i was looking for- very casual, peaceful setting. I decided to bring a book to get some reading done in their back patio. The drinks are tasty and can be unique- I had a matcha and masala iced chai with turmeric which was suggested by the waitress. next time i will want to order the bombay fog- chai with vanilla.

If you love Tea, come here. Over 180 varieties. Curious, but the chocolate Chai latte which is delicious is all powder, no steeping? How do you make a chai tea with no steeping? Huh? It's "instant", but a "high quality" instant tea. I was not impressed with my breakfast burrito. It was mostly potatoes with undercooked bacon(even tho I specifically asked for CRISPY BACON. The owner is actually a really nice guy, a Boston transplant 15 years ago. Attention: the oatmeal is purple! Free parking with 8 spaces and over flow paid parking lot next store. Come for the tea, and stay to walk around canyon road.

The service is reprehensible. I can usually tolerate mediocre service for good food (I live in NYC, a place not known for its warm service); however, the unwelcoming, incompetent and unapologetic staff is so rude it ruins the appetite. I've been here several times over the past few years and always took some issue with the service (and fellow reviews show I am not alone), but it has truly tipped the scales and I will not miss the wrong orders, lukewarm under grilled chicken and attitude. Vinaigrette has great salads and O'Hori has wonderful coffee and tea! Tip: if you do not like people, perhaps consider a job outside of the service industry.

Terrible service. Overpriced few ounces of lemonade. NO WIFI.

Met a local here for breakfast. I had the oatmeal, which was made with all kinds of fancy grains and rices I'm not familiar with. Very healthy stuff :) it was basically dark brown/black oatmeal. Came with maple cream and whipped cream as well as strawberries or bananas. I definitely needed the cream as the oatmeal was pretty bland on its own. I've never had matcha tea before so I got a matcha latte with almond milk. Very different flavor but not bad! My husband got the breakfast burrito which was amazing. It did have a lot of potato in it though. His Mexican chocolate latte was delicious! Overall, an OK experience. I don't know that I would come back for the food.

I would certainly return when I visit. But it would definitely be for the food, tea, and fun environment, and NOT the service. Outdoor seating was full so I found a place inside, but received no attention from any waitstaff do several minutes. So, I wandered outside, and back in, looking for any indication that I was to wait to be seated. Nope. There was a sign that said "We have table service now, seat yourself." So back to my table I went, where a busboy finally noticed me and brought me a menu. The tea selection was exciting and the cheese and cured meat tasting was an excellent option. I was grateful they had numerous gluten free options and high quality gluten free bread. All in all the experience was positive, I just wish the staff had acknowledged me sooner or that they seated you themselves.

While I would have given the food and service of the Tea House one star normally, I was persuaded by my brunch companions to be more kind. It took a rather long time to receive menus. It may be helpful to tell a staff member that you're new guests and you haven't been helped since they do not seat you and may not know you have yet to be helped. The beverage menu was impressive with a large array of teas and espresso drinks that include regional mochas, steamers, and fogs amongst various steeped teas and traditional offerings. My companions ordered tea beverages and I had a Mexican mocha. The mocha was exceptionally sweet without much hint of espresso and would have been pretty one dimensional if I hadn't asked for paprika to be added. There was not a hint of foam. My companion's London fog (an Earl Grey drink with steamed milk) was also rather one dimensional and also lacked any foam - it's one redeeming quality was perhaps the large size of the drink. The beverages were unsuccessful in their execution. They weren't bad, but I would have been happier with better steamed milk and less sugar in them. Onto the food - perhaps the most redeemable item in the selection was their eggs Benedict (two poached eggs on a English muffin halves with hollandaise sauce and a tiny salad for approx. $12) which looked beautiful and tasted as they should. The breakfast burrito was predominantly scrambled eggs and was served in a spinach infused tortilla that made it possibly the worst breakfast burrito in Santa Fe (bland, dry, and strangely sweet). The green chile was served on the side (convenient I suppose for those averse to spice) and had not been fully peeled. I must say that our server, when present, was wonderfully kind and very willing to assist us when we needed something. If anything, the extra star is for her attentiveness to her tables throughout the meal. Go for the large selection of steeped teas and you (probably) won't be disappointed.

I'm a NM native and have gotten used to the idea that small restaurants in Santa Fe will probably have less than stellar service. However, this goes past bad service. Everyone was friendly enough and my server answered my questions about the menu even though she managed still not to be very helpful. I ordered a panini and a SIDE of just Brussels sprouts, implying I didn't want a side salad. And waited. For about a half hour. Then, my sprouts came out. Just my sprouts. I ate about half of them and wanting my accompanying sandwich, waited again. For another 10 minutes. Finally, my panini arrived. It was missing the cheese! I ordered basically a fancy grilled cheese and had to ask for my cheese! Oh, and still got a salad that I didn't want. I heard complaints around me from people who couldn't get water refills and waited more than an hour for food. All the time, the manager or owner sat 25 feet away from me putting flatware settings together! So helpful. I chose this place because of their tea and coffee selection. Go there for that but don't go hungry.

Tezi's Grade: A+ Jeremy's grade: A++ Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico Theme/style: Classy, comfortable teahouse High points: Superb whole leaf tea collection with literally scores of custom tea blends, lattes, etc. "Tea lovers' paradise" Low points: Later hours would be nice (closes at 9pm). Food: Delicious, high quality, semi-gourmet dishes, not extravagantly priced. Desserts also a high point, selection of housemade cookies, pastries, other fancy desserts. Jeremy had a delicious beets and goat cheese salad that tezi also enjoyed. Tezi had farro pie (egg, farro, cheese...) similar to a quiche. Delicious, came with small salad. Jeremy's mom had their housemade macaroni and cheese (that was good) and carmelized cauliflower that had currants and pine nuts. Tea: Mango hot tea is hard to overstate in terms of its overall awesomeness. Even Therese who isn't necessarily a huge tea fan thoroughly enjoyed it. However, it needs to be noted that there are so many different varieties of teas offered, and our experiences with each of our beverages over a couple of days means that there are probably many more great teas as wel. Jeremy would like a year to go every day and try a new one, and certainly tezi would be happy to join him for the desserts. The Norman, a tea latte with almond milk and gingerbread orange rooibos tea. Very delicious, although we did change their recipe a bit and had them add vanilla sweetener. The Bombay Fog, a vanilla chai and steamed milk. Very strong spice, not quite sweet enough for tezi, but JJ really enjoyed it. Desserts: There's a good selection of desserts that looked absolutely decadent and delicious. Lillian raves about the key lime pie, which was deliciouss. Tezi thoroughly enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake. Both desserts had yummy whipped cream and strawberries. The atmosphere: Really beautiful outdoor patio, nestled in the Canyon Road art district of Santa Fe. Very comfortable, and the interior is what someone would wish every Starbucks could offer. (Cozy, comfortable) Definitely a place you would want to take guests, it's a Santa Fe must. The service: Friendly, competent. *The owner/or manager came by and asked us how we were enjoying ourselves and we applauded his teahouse, and he seemed very friendly and proud of his accomplishments. **Wifi?

Ok, so this is a nice enough spot to chat with a friend while sipping a beverage of your choice- this is true. But the servers have a certain way about them... Like you're putting them out simply by ordering, asking a menu question, requesting your check, etc. It's old. And the food: my last dish I thought, and should have clarified, I was getting poached eggs on a bed of spinach with scallions, parmesan, tomatoes. No. Scrambled eggs with only the TINIEST of garnish on the top. NO spices, herbs, flavor at all. You, if you'd wanted to, could have counted the scallions and parm grates with ease. Oh and a piece of burnt dry toast. Argh. Step it up!

I can't comment on the menu of food as I only went in to purchase loose leaf tea. The tea and the selection itself is great, but the place itself was a bit disappointing as it was cluttered, dirty and the staff was very short. I won't return to dine but am grateful to have the local resource for tea. Santa Fe has such a low bar for these type of specialty establishments, so I don't want to bite the hand that "feeds" me, but the owners could make a but more effort.

At first I thought this place was gonna be amazing because of how cool it looked from the outside and all the positive yelp reviews. However after eating at this establishment all that I will remember is how expensive their mediocre food is. I spent $25 dollars for lasagna and cheesecake. The lasagna didn't even taste like lasagna. The meat in it felt like taco bell grade meat. The cheesecake was difficult to eat because it kept falling apart when trying to cut into it. Overall I was not happy but I was hungry so I had no choice but to keep eating. The only thing that was good was the tea. I had the green tea pineapple tea, iced. It tasted great. So If they just refined the food aspect of this establishment I believe it would be a great spot.

Outdoors seating only... Which... I like... But not when it's 90 degrees at 9am (probably my own fault here). The server seemed busy, and ignorant. They have a GIGANTIC tea list. It was rather intimidating... I guess I don't know enough about teas... The food was mediocre at best. (I had the smoked salmon bagel - I was sad because the salmon was dry and waaaay too salty) The view was nice, but I feel like it wasn't enough to make up for the rest...

A great place to go and decompress, have great conversations and enjoy amazing tea. My personal favorite is Tokyo Fog with ceremonial grade matcha. The dinner items are great, I personally like the lasagna. It takes a lot for a local like me to go to Canyon Road, but this is worth putting up with tourists! Local or not it is a Santa Fe must.

  • T. H.

a refreshing stop along canyon road. the tulsi mint tea with simple syrup ( that the barista offered to make on the spot) was so dang refreshing! the macaroon was scrumptious and the chocolate chip cookie was crunchy and buttery and chocolatey and chewy. fill up your water bottles from the water station near the bathroom.

My wife and I love this place! The food is healthy and delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing, most of the staff is always kind. However, the last time we are there we just felt rushed and the server picked up our plates with half our meal on it. As if his shift was over and he was going to get out of there no matter what. Plus, the table next to us waited about 10-15 minutes because the restaurant ran out of silverware. Yes, you read that correctly. Anyway, it's a great place to people watch and/or catch up on a good book.

I had the most delicious slow-cooked beef stew I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Of course it was described differently on the menu but the butternut squash and polenta were equally tasty. My siblings each enjoyed their vegetarian selections as well. Well why only four stars then? Because of the surly waitstaff. She was polite enough sometimes but frequently snapped at a request so that we were hesitant to ask for anything and she addressed us always with a condescending "honey", "dearie", or "señor ".

  • Megan T.

Good food and tea, love the ambiance but they could improve their attitudes. Consistently rude waitstaff who act like they would rather be doing anything but their jobs. Newsflash: you're in Santa Fe working as a server, not LA not NYC not Portland. You don't get to be assholes.

    (3)
  • Lora S.

If I could only post less than one star. The staff were rude, ignored us and were generally annoyed we were even there. Didn't even bother to order coffee as from watching the barista she had no idea what she was doing. Go somewhere else.

I've been coming here for years as my mom lives nearby. They've always been very good- the food is always top notch. I tried the Baked Eggs with Kale, prosciutto ham, goat cheese and parmesan on top. I loved it! If one wants to eat Kale, this is how I would prepare it. A special shout out to Shannon, our server who is very attentive, and Josh, whom I spoke with this morning and shared our love of the Boston area. And of course, Jessica, a fellow Red Sox fan. My son and I love the sweet Macha with almond milk. SO good! I come here several times when I'm in the area- I definitely recommend it to all my friends. They're open for breakfast and lunch, although I've only been here for breakfast. If you're in the Canyon Road arts district, this is the place to enjoy a relaxing meal.

Great tea. I have not had a chai so complex since Late for Train in Flagstaff! The food is great, too! The reason for the low score is due to the most rude servers I've ever encountered. They care more about their tips and fast turnover than allowing for guests to enjoy their food and tea. I have never been treated so badly at an establishment and will not return...despite their yummy chai.

The tea and coffee are really good but the service is definitely not. It's super slow and frankly not friendly at all. While waiting a ridiculously long time for two cups of to go coffee all I heard was one waitress asking all the others about cash out for their tips. When I finally got my coffee after asking two different waitresses it had been sitting behind the counter for awhile not in to go cups. No apology whatsoever. There are much better places in Santa Fe!

I felt totally lost and ignored on my first visit today. I tried to locate someone to ask if there was wifi and a rude server coldly told me no there wasn't, as though I was annoying her with my inquiry. All I wanted was a tea but I had to sit at a table where no server came to me for over 5 minutes, dropped a menu off and left. Then I tried to locate someone to see if it was always like this (I'm new in town), perhaps I had just come at lunch, and during different hours you could grab a tea without having to wait? I couldn't find anyone to answer that either. Staff was rude (I've been a server before and I know the difference between busy and rude). Won't be back and it's a shame because I really wanted to try their matcha!

If I had found this place at the beginning of my trip I would have visited everyday. We were in Santa Fe for just four days and came here on two of them. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. Like visiting an old friends home you come in and seat yourself, a waitress will come over with a drink menu that has it's own table of contents and a food menu. The drink menu has almost 20 pages, most of them tea obviously but they also serve hot chocolate and coffee. I had the lychee black tea, ceylon tea, and spicy chocolate chai (to go) on my first visit and a flavored ice tea of the day (blueberry and citrus) on my second. They bring a small pot for each tea and if you'd like they'll even refill it so you can enjoy another round. Each tea pot was about three cups of tea. The to go drinks come in 16oz cups. The food is equally amazing. It tends to be on the natural/vegan side of things but still tastes delicious. The kimchi grilled cheese was pretty good but the breakfast burrito had too much potato (huge chunks of it). Your best bet is to stick to dessert. The apple pear cobbler, chocolate cake, and key lime pie were all fantastic. The cobbler is topped with their organic/vegan oatmeal and was my favorite of the three. When all else fails ask the waitress for a recommendation on the tea and order the dessert trio.

Things to LOVE: --Amazing tea selection. Overwhelming, even. I sniffed a green Earl Grey as it was being transferred by the tea guy there, who is also the chai maker. See below. I wish I had more time to explore the teas and perhaps buy some to bring home. --BEST CHAI LATTE I've sipped in my life. Deliciously spicy and not sweet and my biggest regret is not getting a second for the road. --Gluten-free options, including fresh-baked pastries. I did not try any, but I think it's worth calling out/alerting in a review. --Sweet atmosphere inside and out. --Off-street parking. --Everyone who worked there was attentive and nice. --Menu is well curated, and breakfast is offered till 5 p.m.!! The chai and atmosphere drew us in for lunch when our original plans were to go elsewhere. My partner had a simple breakfast sammie (egg and cheese). Small, but fresh and tasty, if a wee bland. I had the polenta Catalan, which was fine. Nothing super-special, except for the romesco, which was terrific. Would definitely go back and will dream of the chai forever.

Love the tea selection especially the matcha options but service is a little slow. I wanted to find some good teas while I was in Santa Fe and this was the first place that popped up. The walk to this place was just beautiful. I loved all the art galleries along the way. The ladies there were really nice and took our orders as soon as we were ready. My mother and I ordered two matcha drinks and a GF brownie from the case. 20 min later we finally got our drinks. In my opinion that's quite long for two drinks. The drinks were just great and I GF brownie was the perfect sweet treat. The other small complaint I have is that there is a major fly issue here. There were at least 10 swarming around us the whole time we were sitting there. Other than that everything else was perfect. The owner was extremely nice and brought us some samples of goat cheese stuffed gigs which were just delicious!

Loved this place! A friend said we had to stop by here during our visit to Santa Fe for the "best coffee". It was delicious! Our order was to go and we had coffee, tea, a blueberry scone and a piece of apple cake. Let me just say, the blueberry scone was by far the best scone I have ever had!!! And, the apple cake was amazing, too! What a treat!

Extraordinarily good tea, as you'd expect from the name of the establishment. The problem i had was, once the server got wind of the fact we were planning to hang around and do some work on the internet, the wifi mysteriously disappeared. Even though we were planning to eat lunch, eat snacks, drink beverages and be good paying customers for the time we were there, the message was clear. just as we were about to order lunch, the wifi went away. When i say went away, I mean disappeared completely from the list of available wifis. So they have to have unplugged it. So we went to Starbucks and had lunch, lattes and snacks for a few more hours, getting our work done there instead over their predictably reliable wifi. I am amazed that these boutique cafes continue to chase away wifi users, right into the hands of their nemesis, Starbucks. Starbucks really has this wifi deal worked out. They know it's worth it to attract customers back again and again. They don't have to serve the best coffee or tea. Beverages taste better when the wifi is good. My suggestion to the Tea House is to offer maybe 2 hours wifi per machine or something, or perhaps limit it during lunch or dinner time, so customers at least know what to expect. Good wifi will bring customers all day long. Get with the times, fellas.

Amazing teas (and this is coming a tea-obsessed reviewer). Latte lovers: try the chai latte, chocolate chai latte, or Tokyo fog (matcha with vanilla and milk -- so very good). We've been here five times and the tea has consistently been very high quality - whether green, black, or herbal. The food is pricey, but it's Canyon Road - and the food is very good. But mainly, come to experience real, delicious tea. UPDATE: Took my mom here last month and experienced very rude service from a server and the person working the counter. No plans to go back until they improve their attitude. Example: if a customer has been waiting a long time for the bill and approaches the counter, asking politely if it's possible to pay there, try making eye contact with her, smiling, and answering her question instead of muttering about how busy you are while avoiding eye contact.

Pros: Beautiful house located in the heart of Canyon Road. Cons: Poor service and only one unisex bathroom for approximately 30 tables - aren't there health code rules about this. Sat in the back to have a quiet lunch and instead had to watch the lines to the toilet grow longer as lunch ended. There is space for an installation of a sink to wash your hands, but alas they haven't done it yet. I don't know where the employees wash their hands - hopefully not in the kitchen sink. Asked what was in the veggie burrito and the waitress said you can add sausage or bacon. Ordered it any way and regretted it - potato and squash and a tiny bit of green chile and no cheese despite that being promised. This carb bomb was disappointing. Decision: Won't return

Came here twice during my stay in Santa Fe... and both times... I wasn't disappointed. The place looks small from the outside but very spacious in the inside. Servers were friendly and prompt. I liked their breakfast / lunch menu... it was just right that it didn't get too overwhelming. My first visit I ordered a soy mocha and scone with clotted cream. The mocha was perfectly made which made my day and the scone was just enough to fill me up. The clotted cream reminded me of my trip in London... that was a good flash back! My second visit... I still ordered a soy mocha but with a bread basket with butter / jam. It was just perfect... Oh I tried their English Breakfast tea... but having been to London... it just didn't compare. Overall... definitely worth checking out. Good food... decent prices... good service!

A quite retreat after making it all the way up canyon rd by foot. Extensive tea selection. The prosciutto asparagus salad was very good. Fresh. The burrata salad was excellent, large enough to share. The lavender lemonade is a must on a hot day. Service is a bit slow. Who would be in a hurry here. Cell phone service was poor using ATT. Not necessarily a bad thing. Sandwiches looked good. Worth the walk. Parking is limited.

There are waaaaaay too many teas to choose from. which probably has something to do with the name of the business. but I cannot independently confirm or deny this. Luckily the super-friendly staff are knowledgeable enough they can turn your general tea desires into a specific flavor that fits them. So I let them choose for me. A hot "matcha" w/milk ... the first time in my poultry existence I'd ever tried one. the first sip may weird you out a bit, then it's all party after that. The food was super tasty too. Unfortunately they wouldn't make me a pannini with 14 different parts to it so I could technically sample them all (I really did ask). So I opted for the Caprisse (?) w/ added proscuitto. the staff (and their mood) of a business really can make a difference and these humanoids were the best, probably because they're hopped up on all the tea their brains could desire all day. everyday. word.

Waited over an hour for eggs. I finally overheard the waitress tell newly-sat people that the eggs were taking a while. I cancelled my order when the waitress mentioned they hadn't even been started yet! Seriously, you would think the place would expect to be busy for Sun bruch and staff accordingly. The Spicy Chai latte I did manage to receive tasted like soap. One star for apologetic wait staff.

The Teahouse has been a local favorite for 10+ years and recently has gone under new management- that really brings a new life and consistency to the experience. they are constantly updating/upgrading to please both locals and visitors alike. your really not going to wrong with anything. in the evening they have a lovely italian menu that features a killer lasagna and they always have a slow cooked dish of the day. My all time favorite is the oatmeal made with forbidden rice and steel cut oats- it comes with fresh fruit and it is so good! I can't resist it. I blogged a few pictures and some of my other favorites here- janethephilosopher.com/t…

The Tea House has been one of my favourite places in Santa Fe, but no more. We were there at lunchtime the other day when all the outside tables were full up and the two young women serving were working their socks off - very stressed and hardly able to make eye contact with customers. In short, far too few staff at a busy time. We weren't surprised that we had to wait ages to place our order. But then the manager emerged and was clearly remonstrating with one of the young women, wagging his finger in her face. She looked at the point of tears. He then stopped by our table and we said we felt the problem wasn't the staff, but the numbers. He was curt and dismissive, saying this was the standard number for that number of tables. We were not the only people there that day who reacted as we had done, and who disliked seeing people being - it seemed to us - mismanaged and apparently bullied.

First, to respond to a couple of reviews: there is PLENTY of indoor seating. It just depends on how crowded it is. And I'm GLAD they don't come across as a great place to sit and do computer wi-fi stuff: what a pain. Without people clogging up the tables doing internet stuff, we actually have a chance at getting a seat. We were here last weekend on a snowy day and were greated warmly as we arrived. We sat in a back room with windows all around. A really charming little homey room. Our server was prompt, attentive, and gracious. The tea was wonderful; we loved the great selection, too. I had Eggs Catalan: poached eggs atop polenta, resting in a romesco sauce. Came quickly, cooked perfectly, and so delicious that I'll never be able to order any thing else when I go to the Teahouse: it's Eggs Catalan for me from now on. A nice salad as well. I thought the prices were perfectly reasonable as well. We got warm "thank you's" as we left, too. All in all the experience was perfect.

Came at a very busy time and clearly the place is popular, although if doing so well the staff leave much to be desired, particularly the mgr in charge the day I came here (Sunday). The tea selection is awesome and amazing, which may count for a lot. I only gave it two stars because of too many tell tale signs of poor management. Not just because they gave my table away twice even though I was next on the wait list; and even though the first time I was outside (for a given 15 minute wait time and standing room only in the front entrance) they knew that, and the second time I told them I would be in the restroom and I came right out only to find out they did it again despite the manager knowing precisely where I was and I'd be right back! There were other signs, like cleanliness, attitude of wait staff, other signs that indicate a fantastic place that could now be resting on its reputation and not how well it is still being managed. Lastly, the promised free WiFi was on again/off again so as to be worthless.

Terrible Service. Waitress never checked on us. Took 45 minutes for our food to come and restaurant was not busy. Poached eggs were over cooked. Food was cold. Waitress only brought us our food after we reminded her. Restaurant was hot, no fresh air moving through the rooms. Do not recommend.

Really nice location and funky/quaint, so they get 2 stars. Six of us walked into the Tea House late in the day and we were "greeted" by Josh who said, "Next time call ahead." Yikes! My cup of weak oolong tea was $6. Two of my friends did not like their tea selection, but since our reception was so poor to start, they did not bother asking if they could get something else. The waiter was less than interested in us too and did not offer info on teas.

I really like this place. It would've been 5 stars if the service was a little quicker. everything took soooo looonnnggg (all their food is made to order.) I ordered the ginger matcha latte (but I'm pretty sure there was no ginger...maybe I forgot to say it?) and my boyfriend had the border mocha (so good, a little spicy in a good way.) We (my boyfriend and I) ended up ordering the oatmeal (purple and delicious) and the eggs Benedict (out of this world good). Great atmosphere, patio, food, and drinks. It's a must visit.

Peaceful shady spot. Amazing tea selection. GF friendly, dog friendly, casual and relaxed. Sandwiches and egg dishes are delicious. You can't be in a hurry if you want to fully enjoy your experience.

Fabulous tea! Great atmosphere and staff. I had the cafe latte tea and the description was right on. Going to get some flavors Togo as well.

Oh no! What happened to this place? Major sad face. It used to be so cozy and comfortable. The lighting is weird, the tables were sticky, the service was grumpy and slow, the fireplace wasn't even going. Even though the tea tasted good, the ambiance ruined it. Letdown city, pop. 2.

I worked at a Canyon Road gallery this summer, and I loved grabbing a bite to eat before or after work here. Their oatmeal is by far amazing! It is purple, loaded with fruit, and topped with their HOMEMADE whipped cream (this is not redid-whip, people!)! They have lots of vegan options as well. The rest of the menu is okay, a bit pricey, but my favorite, by far, is the tea. It is WONDERFUL! Lots of choices, all freshly brewed loose-leaf. The staff is friendly, and fits in wonderfully with the hipster-vibe. Oh, and did I mention my boss saw Amanda Seyfried dining there? Yeah, great place.

After a long walk on Canyon Road and chatting with a few Gallery owners, we were so ready for a lunch and a nice tea break. Got their veggie sandwich was delicious! Their Chocolate Tea was good. Nice patio outside with stones and umbrella covered tables. Inside was big and spacious. A really nice break that reminded me of Berkeley.

I lived 2 blocks from the Teahouse and loved being able to walk there in the mornings. The ambiance is fantastically soothing. I love the fireplace, the layout, the outdoor space and the decorations. The breakfast burritos are some of the best in town. Coffee is out of this world. I know it's a teahouse, but unfortunately I'm a java junky so never tried the tea. They have an amazing selection of teas though. Sitting outdoors in the warmer weather is so wonderful. Also, they offer free Wi-fi which is an absolute bonus. The only issue I have ever had with the teahouse is the service. The people working there are great!, but they need more people because there is usually only one person being worked to death when it's busy and people become frustrated and usually leave. In the winter months, it's much better since tourists aren't around. Everything else about this place is spot on!

Great little cafe in Santa Fe. Not too updated like Starbucks, but clean enough to be cozy and have that boutique look. Servers are friendly and attentive. Had Green Macha, spicy chocolate chai which were well prepared. The parking is not that great though. . .down this super steep ramp (one-way), but oh well, seems like most people walk to this location anyway.

Great for breakfast and a great place to kick off a day of gallery visits on Canyon Road. Lot parking nearby. Service is pleasant, but spotty.

I really really really want to like this place. They were extremely packed around 4pm on a Friday, and the barista was slammed. We didn't mind waiting. The tea list is so extensive, I had a hard time choosing, so I went with an old faithful - London fog (earl grey, vanilla, almond milk). It was perfect! However, my fiancé had the chai with soy milk and it was so disappointingly terrible. He is not a picky guy, so the fact that he couldn't even attempt to drink it was a real bummer. It tasted like burned milk - maybe soy milk, but it is much easier to burn almond milk which is what I suspect our barista did. I would definitely give this place another try, just steer clear of the chai!

We were at the Teahouse Columbus day weekend and I loved this place. Lots of personal attention, someone that I think was the owner talked to us about the ambience and how he installed sound proof panels on the ceiling to make the atmosphere calmer, the server was really nice and let's talk about the Teahouse oatmeal. I LOVED it! I don't know why on earth I even ordered this breakfast because I generally can't stand oatmeal but it just sounded interesting and I would go back to the Teahouse again and again just for this breakfast. Thank you for everything. It's nice to be treated so well in this day and age of mediocre service.

Walking up and down Canyon road on a hot sunny day and in need of a break, the teahouse is the perfect place to sit down on the patio and enjoy tea or coffee based drinks. They also offer alcohols and food. The matcha sweet ginger latte I ordered was excellent and so was the tiramisu. This is foremost a tea place and the choices are unvelievable. They also offer metropolis coffee (yes the famous Chicago roasters) and that part was actually a bit disappointing to me. I would think serving a local roaster would be more appropriate. Except that, yep the teahouse is the perfect place to relax and recharge.

Had seen this restaurant on previous trips to Santa Fe but made a point to stop today. AM SO SORRY I WAITED!! We walked in with a wave of other people, so there was a slight wait, but Richard, the owner, gave us some insight on the hundred+ teas available. The wait staff were slammed but maintained a friendly, professional attitude and gave us time for recommendations. Had the freaking oolong and mango, mango teas (both were awesome), the brie, apple, ham panini (delightful!), and ended with a MUST have strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream and homemade shortcake (awesome!!). We also tried the green macha latte with sweet ginger and would highly recommend.

One of my favorite places in Santa Fe for brunch. The baked eggs with salmon take a while but are to die for. The place is very cozy and the service is good. It's a little pricey but then this is Canyon Road so that shouldn't be a surprise. I had a lovey house ice tea with grapefruit.

I live right around the corner and really wanted to start going here on a regular basis. I walked into the patio area where servers did not acknowledge me, in fact they purposefully ignored me. I think the bleached blond waitress needs to have her vision checked because she clearly could not see me. Maybe I had my invisibility cloak on. Finally after waving to a server she told me to sit wherever I wanted so I went to a table with my son. My neighbor was sitting at the table next to us. After 10 minutes, we still had not even been greeted by a server! My neighbor departed her table and new people, a party of 3 women, sat down. The bleached blond girl who had ignored me went right over to their table and took their order. We still had not even been greeted! It was Mother's Day and I was with my 3 year old son, clearly being ignored. Finally another server came over and took our drink order. I am not kidding, we did not even get our drinks for 34 minutes! Then our cheese plate and strawberry cheesecake came 25 minutes later! The table who came in AFTER us had eaten and left BEFORE we even got our drinks. The bleached blond waitress is clearly interested in only her tips and gives not a shit about any other customer in this cafe. She could have assisted our waitress or something! She could have acknowledged me as I waved at her to get her attention. We ordered drinks and a cheese plate and a strawberry shortcake and it took nearly an hour to get these items! We ordered them all at once! It was not even busy. The ONLY reason this place has any customers is because of its location and the fact that almost all customers are tourists who do not have a point of reference when deciding where to eat on Canyon Road. Here is your point of reference. If you don't care about being ignored and you can wait 34 minutes to get your drinks and an hour to get a cheese plate, this is your place. If you do not care about being ignored and feeling completely ripped off, then here is your perfect place to eat. Santa Fe has so many amazing restaurants that have superb service that even though, this place is literally a block away from my home, I would have been served our drinks and food faster had we driven all the way across town to a different restaurant, including drive time!

Although this place is quite charming, we found it terribly lacking in service. We were informed that they recently switched from "order at the counter and seat yourself" style dining to waited tables. That switch did NOT go well for them. We had to wait far too long for everything here...from water to our check. We finally went in to pay our bill and the inside was a madhouse with people running all over the place. If anyone affiliated with this adorable place is listening - GO BACK! Go back to the way things were...they way you were comfortable. Because it was too much chaos. Ok, that said...yes, they have a million and a half teas...and their tea bags are enormous. But, as Thomas said...too many options can be very overwhelming, and it's really sad when you finally pick one and then you are told they are out of it (as I was told). Sad sad sad. So, anyway...lovely concept...lovely atmosphere...needs some work.

My grandmother lives on Canyon Road and every time I go visit her for Christmas I always look forward to going to the Teahouse. Being that it is usually quite cold and snowy around that time, I've always enjoyed the indoor seating that is complimented by the warm fireplaces. It is a very relaxed environment that is almost reminiscent of the liberal-west county area from where I am from, which is a nice haven to have when on vacation. The choice of teas are of course very impressive, but as a chai connoisseur, the Coyote was by far one of the best I have ever had. Fiery flavor with a bold chai taste, and the somewhat grainy texture when you get towards the bottom is yet another reminder of the authentic recipe of this beverage. Last time I went I was recovering from getting my wisdom teeth removed but did not let it stop me from enjoying the menu. The Teahouse oatmeal is literally the best I have tasted and is too unique to describe. Being a texture eater, their oatmeal is what really attracts me. This place is cozy and inviting in ambiance with an almost old-west charm because of their tin cups. Going to Santa Fe is always a treat because I get to share breakfast with my grandmother at a place we both love. Thank you Teahouse for bringing family together!

I'm a coffee drinker, pure and simple, and I'm not a huge fan of tea. However, my first time here I was forced to order a tea (for obvious reasons). Whoa! I have no idea what the name of the tea was, but it was incredible! Needless to say I gulped the entire cup and was thirsty for more! Although, my second time back I went back to my old ways and ordered a sweetened mocha. Judge me if you wish, but hey, I'm a creature of habit!

We visited The Teahouse at the recommendation of a friend who had recently moved to Santa Fe. If not for the recommendation, we never would have found it. It's located at the end of Canyon Road (past all the art galleries) and didn't have very good signage from the road (even when walking!). We walked in and were surprised at how much seating The Teahouse offered, both inside AND outside. Inside, there were tables, chairs, and sofas. Outside, there were many tables not too closely spaced together so you could enjoy some quiet time with a friend or read a book in the fresh air. The menu was VERY extensive for drinks, snacks, and meals for a teahouse/coffeehouse. I wanted a coffee, but felt that I should have tea since it was a teahouse, after all. That's when I spotted the Thai Coffee. It was a combination of coffee AND tea. It was definitely a unique menu item, but I probably wouldn't order it again because it just tasted like creamy coffee and I prefer mine black but sweetened. I ordered the breakfast burrito "Egged and Stuffed." It came with pinto beans, goat cheese, potato hash, and -- because we're in Santa Fe -- green chile. What made this burrito different from all the rest in town was the goat cheese, and I have to say that I liked it. It made the filling extra creamy and cooled down the spiciness of the green chile a bit. What I didn't particularly care for at The Teahouse were all the signs that said to order at the counter, bus your own table, and go back to the counter if you had any problems with your order, but please don't forget to leave a tip! The request for gratuities was VERY evident by the tip jar on the counter and the tip space on the receipt. Yet customers are left to do all the work and fend for themselves. The friend I was with ordered the Teahouse Oatmeal, which is a specialty of theirs. The woman behind the counter helping the cashier asked if my friend wanted bananas or strawberries on top of the oatmeal. She agreed to the strawberries and I literally watched as the cashier rang up a $1 miscellaneous charge on the bill, obviously for the strawberries. When the oatmeal was delivered, there were no strawberries. My friend went back inside and asked for the strawberries she ordered. She was told that she wasn't given them because she wasn't charged for them. Okay...there were too many things wrong with that statement for my brain to comprehend. First, she was offered them specifically and, therefore, ordered them. Second, she WAS charged for them because I saw the $1 charge ring up (but they don't give you a receipt with a breakdown of your total). Third, if there was an error made by the cashier but she knew that she ordered them, you suck it up and provide the item anyway because it was YOUR mistake, not the customer's. (FYI -- she finally got the strawberries.) So, my summary of The Teahouse? Great atmosphere, spacious rooms, and varied seating choices. Great food and drink selections. Really crappy customer service skills and signage telling people to bus their own tables. (But don't forget to leave a tip!)

The only place I've had gluten-free and LOVED it. I will go back for that brownie w/almond slivers on top any time and my daughter loves the Italian chocolate cake. And it's a tea house but the coffee is fabulous. I've been lucky to always get a spot in the two chairs by the fire and it is extra cozy. A nice place to stop when you are perusing on Canyon road but also worth the drive to find a nice little respite from whatever you happen to be doing in Santa Fe.

It's so cute and a great place to stop when you're hollerin' at canyon road, but it is a little inconsistant. I had an AWESOME americano made by a female barista who was so hurried and stressed that my best friend and I felt super weird. But the americano was awesome! The second and third time I went, however, I was met with good customer service but an americano that didn't stand up in quality to the first one. My friend got a blended green tea and the ice chunks were enormous and made her beverage sort of undrinkable. So that was a big womp-womp. Still, the atmosphere is pretty neat and even my not-as-awesome americanos were drinkable and good...ish. The food looks great, but I really don't want to spend $12 on a sandwich. That is only because I'm poor and student-y. I mean, if YOU want to spend $12 on a sandwich, I'm guessing you'll be a happy camper because the food certainly looks fabulous.

Have been going to the Teahouse for Coyote Chai for years, and finally had a meal this trip. . . Boy, good things come to those who wait! If you're the type that visits Santa Fe, likes walking up Canyon Rd, taking in the vibe and appreciating the talented artists and artisans, you'll definitely welcome the Teahouse's down-to-earth and low-key setting. You will especially love walking in to the smell of fresh brewing coffees and teas. Slip into the rustic dining rooms and look all around at the art that hangs, then take a table next to the kiva (a welcomed reprieve from the winter elements). Order the Veggie Burger (and add avocado). Don't forget the Coyote Chai to sip while you wait for the best veggie burger you will have on this trip, or perhaps anywhere else (as is the case with me). I hate to have to call it a "burger" because it's not a burger, it's something better on every level. Every bite reminds you of how well you could be eating if you took the time to gather your food with care. The recipe appears to be simple: brown rice, grains, and a lot of freshly chopped veggies, but according to our waitress, hard to crack the code for the right consistency. It's worth a shot! ***Teahouse, if you're reading this, please approach Ten Thousand Waves about licensing your Veggie "burger" to them when they open their new restaurant.*** Cannot wait to go back to Santa Fe to have another Veggie "burger" at the Teahouse!

I love their teas and they make a fantastic decaf iced americano. The food is a little pricey, but we're on Canyon Road, where EVERYTHING is pricey, so they get a reprieve. A couple notes... Their "Dog of the day" donation bottle is stuck in February. Service can be really really really slow, so bring your laptop. Free WiFi, so they get a boosted star in my rating.

This place is like the Chinese restaurant of tea houses. Me: Can I get an iced tea? Server: What kind of iced tea? Me: What are my options? Server: (Sighs) We have over 150 options? Me: I don't care, give me something with a citrus flavor. Too many options can be overwhelming, and I would recommend that this place either narrow down their options, or train their staff on making recommendations. But other than that, this is a wonderful place to relax and people watch after a day of hopping around the galleries on Canyon Road. If you feel so inclined, the teahouse also carries a fine selection of pies.

Two stars for the atmosphere. I've only been here twice so I'll grant I may have gotten a bad day or two. Today I ordered a plain drop coffee. I have had better coffee at truck stops and paid a lot less. I fact the coffee was so bad I mentioned it to the server and asked for a Cowboy Chai instead. The bill arrived and the "bad" coffee was still on the bill. Not a good way to build customer loyalty. The atmosphere is fantastic. The staff were great but you can't rest on those features. You need to. Make a good, if not GREAT, cup of coffee if you charge $2.50 per cup. It's a basic item that needs to be done well. If you need help I am certain your coffee supplier will help any way possible. I have only been there twice so I trust other beverages are prepared with greater expertise. Don't let me down. I seldom write reviews, so to get this review means I see better things from you.

Cute tea and coffee shop on Canyon Rd near all of the galleries in Santa Fe. We went on the middle of a day on Wednesday and the place was busy. Its really nice inside with 3 or 4 small rooms with tables and even at least one fireplace. It seemed understaffed because the two girls who were working there looked exhausted. To their credit, they never stopped moving but there really should have been another person or two working. The cappuccino I had was incredible, 5 stars but the two different sweets(desserts) that I tried were below average. They were missing something, maybe a little sugar or something but I was definitely disappointed especially after the coffee was so good. They also have a ton of teas to try there or to buy to bring home.

The coffee here is good, especially like the Vietnamese coffee...yum. Unfortunatly, I can't say as much for the food, slow service (sometimes good, sometimes slow). Our breakfast burritos, expensive for pre-made fare. The were so hot they melted the wrapper, spent some time pulling the paper off the burrito. They they were small and, they only tasted ok. Also, the small dab of cold green chile (in a seperate cup) doesn't cut it. If you want to go and drink nice cup of tea or, coffee this is a good place to do just that.

I lived in Santa Fe a few years ago and it was my favorite spot in town. I just came back for a visit and was sorely disappointed - The place must be under new management. The staff was unfriendly (to me and to each other) and the tea was bland. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was nearly empty (whereas before it would've been crammed full), so clearly I am not the only one who feels the change. Bummer!

I am upgrading my review of 5 stars to 2 stars based on the change of ownership. The menu is still pretty good and the selection of teas is amazing. The new owner has expressed to many locals who come the Tea House to study, read, work on their computers. The Teahouse is close to St Johns College and is (was) a great place to get your work done while eating and enjoying hot drinks. Now the the new owner has instilled a new policy of no computers or wireless on weekends, or evenings. Ok, I get it, as a business owner he is concerned about moving people through and not having tables occupied by customers spending more time on their laptops than buying food -- and cycling through tables. So, now I think of the Teahouse as a place to go eat, instead of a "cafe". This change will affect the demographics of customers, hopefully they will stay in business, and this move does not turn too many locals off. I did notice the owner sitting in the restaurant reading from his iPad on a weekend when computers are not allowed, ..., sort of sends a confusing message. Anyway, my perspective and interest in the Teahouse has changed after a very long time customer... (Body Cafe, Santa Fe Baking Company, Counter Culture) are places where you can still get great food and not be penalized for having a laptop with you.

Mellow courtyard, perfect respit from gallery viewing on Canyon Road. Service was way too slow, hence the 4 stars, but the food was good and I Would enjoy going back. Excellent Bagel & Lox, not what you might expect in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but they nailed it!

Popped into a couple of galleries and ended up at the The Tea House on Canyon Road. It was just right for a hot chocolate and a strawberry shortcake dessert. Wow!! Enormous selection of looseleaf teas (the "tea menu" is a book!) which is cool, and they also have some nice bottled beers.. Pretty nice setting to hang out outside on a sunny day on Canyon Road. There is also some indoor seating.. The food is to be avoided and is ridiculously expensive... The tea is also expensive, but you won't find this selection of teas anywhere else within about 1000 miles so one expects to pay a premium for that.. This is an order and pay at the counter place.. They bring your tea/food/whatever to your table..

Great place to hang out in Santa Fe - cool zen ambience, good espresso drinks, a nice kiva fireplace, and a tea list to rival Samovar in San Francisco. Food is pretty missable, though, except for the phenomenal oatmeal (made with black sticky rice and, sadly, loads of cream and maple syrup) - other dishes were bland, served cold (tepid steamer eggs - yuck), generally not noteworthy. And as others noted, prices are pretty freakin' high for meh food and DIY catering experience. Skip the food, stick to the teas and coffees and chillin' out by the fire, and you'll do just fine.

  • David G.

I am more and more disappointed with the Teahouse. They can make chai just fine (add the liquid mix to milk) but have no clue about making the different varieties of tea. Someone needs to train the staff. In most cases they give you too much tea, especially for dense varieties like oolong and jasmine, the result is a very strong and often times bitter tea. Not a subtle taste of goodness. The tea quality is good, but the staff obviously doesn't really drink tea. At trip to San Fran or Seattle to a true tea house would be a great learning experience for them all. And my wife agrees with other comments and thinks they are never friendly.

NEVER AGAIN!!! This is was the worst customer service experience of my life! I get better service in the three minutes I'm waiting in line at Taco Bell. I won't go into agonizing detail, but the staff was so terrible that you'd think the manager would compensate by being helpful and apologetic, instead she acted worse than the staff. She must not have known we were locals or perhaps just didn't care. On top of that as we were leaving one of the workers pulled into the driveway and nearly hit my friends baby stroller. Didn't apologize and again didn't even care. I'll brew my tea at my own house from now on.

I'd give The Teahouse zero stars if I could. Astoundingly poor service, with astoundingly rude male servers. Insane in today's economy with a half-empty teahouse. We told the manager our server got the tip he deserved. So rude, so mediocre - so disappointing. In our party of six not one person was satisfied. We won't be back and I'll be sure to spread the bad word about Tea hell. Too too bad, Santa Fe needs a coffee/tea house on Canyon Road and this isn't it.

Love it here! Another plac the boyfriend likes to take me to just chill after a long hike. We usually share the strawberry shortcake topped with a sprig on mint and it's just to die for. It's lovely and quaint. I love the atmosphere minus all the hipsters talking extra loud to make sure you know how cool they are. The staff has always been nice and the tea is great! We come here a lot and enjoy the wi-fi, the paper and just eachother. I take everyone I know here just to hang out. Everyone I know's loves it.

Had a delightful lunch at the Teahouse in between gallery hopping on Canyon Road. Their patio/garden area is adorable and perfect for lingering outside while the weather is nice. The "cheeser" sandwich is delicious, filled with manchego, sprouts, lettuce and tomato with spicy mayo on a nutty bread. I would recommend adding avocado too. My friend had the polenta special which was also great. The polenta was sliced like a quiche with plenty of veggies and a salad on the side. It was a little pricey ($14 for sandwich + iced tea) but hey it's Santa Fe. I did have to dock them a star for the surly service at the counter. Since when it is wrong to ask questions about the specials?

There is no mistake about it - the food here is great. If you want to go to a place with great food, where you will be treated like crap by the staff every time you go in, then this is the place for you. By the way they are doing you a favor by taking your money, so just buy your food, sit down, bus your table and leave the staff alone.

The whole package here was just a bit off. When you walk to the door, the first thing you notice are signs telling you to order inside, then seat yourself, and oh yes, please bus your own table too. The menu is fairly limited. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and a beer. I was a bit shocked that a bottle of European beer was $9 (keeping in mind no one is waiting on you - you have to go inside to get another one). The sandwich tasted good. I realize it's on Canyon Road, but the overall value was not as good as it should be, IMO.

If you like chai that tastes spicy and not like corn syrup, this place is for you! It's full of good conversation nooks and books, and adjacent to Canyon Road with its many galleries. Swing by El Farol (across the street) afterwards for a drink-drink. In winter: If you are (wisely) trepidatious about walking down that steep, unpaved icy slope, don't do it. There is another way in around back on whatever that side street is... Palace?

Four stars for ambiance, people gazing, overhearing crazy conversations about spirituality and art-making, holistic healing and plain old small town gossip. Great selection of tea. While the service is among the weirdest in Santa Fe, the BLT is excellent. Beautiful outdoor seating. And in winter, they keep a fire burning. You can sit on pillows on the floor. A place with a warm, cozy feeling.

One of my favorite places to visit while in Santa Fe. Their Mexican mochas are to die for - the right amount of spice. This is our go-to place when we want a relaxed brunch/lunch.

Popped into a couple of galleries and ended up at the The Tea House on Canyon Road. It was just right for a hot chocolate and a strawberry shortcake dessert. Wow!! Freshly made shortcake with strawberries and crème freche hit the spot. Always looking for another delicious detour when coming to town!

    (3)

Palace?

Argh. Step it up!

(I had the smoked salmon bagel - I was sad because the salmon was dry and waaaay too salty) The view was nice, but I feel like it wasn't enough to make up for the rest...

a refreshing stop along canyon road. the tulsi mint tea with simple syrup ( that the barista offered to make on the spot) was so dang refreshing! the macaroon was scrumptious and the chocolate chip cookie was crunchy and buttery and chocolatey and chewy. fill up your water bottles from the water station near the bathroom.

**Wifi?

  • Mitford G.

Good food and tea, love the ambiance but they could improve their attitudes. Consistently rude waitstaff who act like they would rather be doing anything but their jobs. Newsflash: you're in Santa Fe working as a server, not LA not NYC not Portland. You don't get to be assholes.

No Wi-Fi on the weekend, so if you are traveling & in need of it, don't bother. The food is good.
